
Andy Hanau
City Auditor, City of San Diego, CA
Andy Hanau was appointed San Diego City Auditor in November 2020. Andy joined the City of San Diego’s Office of the City Auditor in 2011, and has managed teams completing numerous performance audits on a wide range of topics in order to improve the City’s efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability. Three of Andy’s audit reports have won ALGA Knighton Awards. Prior to joining the Office of the City Auditor, Andy worked on affordable housing policy issues and performed analysis of the California High Speed Rail project for the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles, and he also worked as a Transportation Planner for the City of Santa Monica. Andy also previously worked for the City of San Diego as a Land Use Planner. Andy is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and he has a Master of Public Policy degree from the UCLA School of Public Affairs, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.
