Arushi Kumar
City Auditor, City and County of Honolulu
Arushi Kumar is the City Auditor for the City and County of Honolulu, where she has overseen the publication of several high-profile audits, including IT modernization, police overtime, CARES Act expenditures, and Capital Improvement Program implementation. She began her audit career at the U.S. Government Accountability Office working on audits of federal health programs, including Medicare documentation, Medicaid Managed Care risks, opioid use disorder services, and women veterans’ health care. She also worked for the City of Seattle Budget Office, overseeing the development and implementation of several sensitive budget proposals during the first two years of the pandemic, including a Transportation Network Company tax, domestic workers’ protections, and language accessibility of government services. Arushi is a local government audit representative on the U.S. Comptroller General’s Domestic Working Group. She earned a B.A. in Economics and a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Virginia, and is a Certified Government Financial Manager and a Certified Internal Controls Auditor.
