Timothy O'Brien

Timothy M. O’Brien, CPA, was elected to a four-year term as Denver Auditor in May 2015 and again in 2019. Auditor O’Brien is licensed in Colorado as a Certified Public Accountant, has a MBA from the University of Colorado and a BSBA form Loyola University Chicago. He holds the designations of Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Global Management Accountant. With over 40 years of auditing and accounting experience, Auditor O’Brien has served on Denver’s Independent Audit Committee and on numerous private- and public-sector governing boards. The Auditor’s office is responsible for conducting internal audits of departments and contracts and enforcing wage labor laws in the City and County of Denver. Under Auditor O’Brien’s leadership, audits focus on performance, financial, contract compliance, cyber security, information technology, data analytics, and continuous auditing.
